Interactions

Iron, Calcium, and Magnesium, these minerals can compete with zinc for absorption. To ensure optimal uptake, consider taking them at different times of the day. Zinc is best taken away from high fibre foods for optimum absorption. Zinc can reduce the absorption of certain antibiotics, such as quinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin) and tetracyclines (e.g., doxycycline). To minimize this interaction, take zinc supplements at least 2 hours before or 4–6 hours after these antibiotics.
